At the Yes San Francisco Urban Sustainability Challenge organised by UpLink, the World Economic Forum’s innovation ecosystem, 12 startups were recognised for the prospective benefits of their urban resilience solutions. The innovations selected represent a diverse range of applications. For example, GaeaSat produces sustainable, reusable, biodegradable food and drink containers from a mix of clay, water and salt. Kit Switch builds modular ready-to-install interiors for residential building renovation projects. Re‑Nuble transforms food waste into fertilisers. Trak builds automated vertical parking garages for electric vehicles, which include charging points and occupy an area 85% smaller than conventional car parking facilities.
