VINCI Facilities is introducing a Net Zero Carbon contract that combines industrial performance and local reforesting for a customer with five production sites in southwestern France. This initiative proves that environmental responsibility and competitiveness can go hand in hand.

In April 2025, VINCI Facilities (VINCI Energies Building Solutions) and a customer in the health, nutrition and beauty sector signed a Net Zero Carbon multiservice maintenance contract for five industrial sites in southwestern France.

This partnership, which follows the “avoid, reduce, offset” (ARO) principle, reflects a shared ambition to reconcile operational efficiency and environmental responsibility while meeting the target of carbon neutrality by 2045.

The Net Zero Carbon contract is based on rigorous methodology. As Emmanuel Nunes, Business Development Manager at VINCI Facilities, explains, “We measure the contract’s upstream impact, cut out any superfluous elements to limit this impact to the bare minimum, and reduce as much as possible what is not avoidable, and only then do we create a local project to offset the contract’s residual impact.”

Virtuous local offsetting

This approach makes it possible to incorporate quantifiable and verifiable commitments to ensure a continuing reduction in emissions. “We are committed to sustainably decarbonising our business and offsetting all residual emissions,” says Emmanuel Nunes. The Net Zero Carbon approach is also notable for its transparency and environmental ambition.

“Proof that industrial performance and environmental responsibility are compatible.”

In the case mentioned above, VINCI Facilities launched a low-carbon-certified pine reforesting project in Les Landes to offset the residual impact. “We launched a local forestry project to sequester CO2 while also creating favourable conditions for biodiversity and for timber production,” says Emmanuel Nunes.

This initiative aligns well with the customer’s value chain, in which some processes use pine-resin derivatives.

Tangible results

Designing a local offsetting solution was the principal challenge to be overcome. “We approached experts at VINCI Concessions to identify practical local low-carbon-certified offsetting solutions,” explains Emmanuel Nunes.

And one year on, the benefits are clearly visible. “This ARO approach is embedded into the contractual and operational model. Our reporting now includes progress reports on our Net Zero Carbon contact.” The manufacturer can now consider its services carbon neutral thanks to the local forestry offsetting.

This Net Zero Carbon contract marks a major step forward in facility management. “This is proof that industrial performance and environmental responsibility are compatible.”
