In February 2023, NDF Energy began construction of the world’s first factory for the production of high-power fuel cells designed to produce electricity from green hydrogen, in order to decarbonise the heavy transport sector (hydrogen-powered freight locomotives and ships). Installed on 7,000 sq. metres of the former Ford plant in Blanquefort, near Bordeaux, and scheduled for completion in late 2023, the factory will produce its first high-grade fuel cells (1.5 to 10 MW) in spring 2024. This industrial project could represent an overall investment of €200 million by 2030.
